Scott Atlas
After graduating with high honors from Yale University with a B.A. in Mathematics and Economics, Scott earned his J.D. from the University of Texas School of Law, where he was Editor-In-Chief of the Texas Law Review and a Chancellor.
Scott clerked for a judge on the prestigious U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit and then joined Vinson & Elkins, LLP in Houston, Texas, the firm’s main office. He earned partnership and served as a highly regarded and accomplished corporate litigator handling complex cases for numerous clients around the United States. Scott continued his corporate litigation career as a partner in the Houston office of Weil, Gotshal & Manges, LLP.
Over 30+ years of practicing law, Scott’s areas of practice and expertise included antitrust, securities, business torts, construction, contract disputes, legal malpractice, lender liability, municipal pension and tax law, trade secrets, trademark infringement, and general commercial litigation.
Scott has served on a bank advisory board and many civic and charitable boards involving education, health, and the arts. He chaired the then-70,000+ American Bar Association Section of Litigation. He served as President of the Texas Law Alumni Association and chaired Texas Law’s Endowment for Excellence, which to date has raised cash and pledges of more than $56 million for scholarships. He has been general counsel for Houston’s Alley Theatre since 1984.
